India’s Picks:

1. Jamaica Gates (Jerk Chicken)

To pull back from our usual way of eating chicken, (fried), I decided to write a blurb on the delicious chicken I had at Jamaica Gates. While stumbling across this gem in Arlington, Texas, I knew I had to give their jerk chicken a try. Boy was it amazing! I had every intention on just eating a small portion of my plate and taking some home to enjoy later. Well let’s just say bye bye to that idea, because I pretty much licked my plate clean. The dish was paired with rice and peas and mixed veggies. The chicken was swimming in a bath of Caribbean flavors and fell off the bone effortlessly. Definitely a dish packed full of flavor!

2. Remedy (Fried Chicken)

Oh Remedy. I still get excited when thinking about the dish I had there. I ordered the Amish Fried Chicken and was not disappointed. This chicken was literally the best fried chicken I have EVER had! The right amount of crunch paired with the perfect seasonings gave this chicken the special place in my heart it now has.

It came with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and gravy and French style green beans. WHEW…I am getting that same excitement I had while writing the blog the first time about this. Run and try this dish! You will not be disappointed. 😉

Christa’s Picks:

3. Public School 214 (Fried Chicken)

Recently I visited a new restaurant in West Village by the name of Public School 214. Being a lover of sweet and savory foods, I decided to get their “Jidori Chicken and Waffles.” Jidori chicken is a mixed-breed free range chicken, that is supposed to be better for you. All I know is that it was amazing!! I sat in awe for a good two minutes after the first bite.

The chicken was crispy and tender just like mama likes; but the seasoning was the kicker. It had a sweet flavor that continued to build as I ate, every bite was better than the last  The twist on this dish was the jalapeño cornbread waffle and the sunny side up egg on top.

Clearly the fried chicken was the star of the dish, but even Beyonce needs back up dancers.

4. Five-Sixty (Quail)

A few months ago we decided to partake in restaurant week in Dallas, and boy did we enjoy ourselves. We went to the Reunion Tower in downtown Dallas to eat at Chef Wolfgang Puck’s famous restaurant Five-Sixty.

Five-Sixty is Asian style cuisine that will leave you speechless. Everything was great from the food to the service. *The eye candy was on point as well.* 😉 The best part of the meal was the Tandoori spice quail. If you have never had quail before, it is very tasty, but can be easily messed up if not cooked properly. Quails are small and delicate, but Wolfgang definitely rocked my world with this dish. The dish was paired with a simple yet flavorful cucumber salad, steamed jasmine rice, and a fresh yogurt sauce that tied it all together. Save your pennies though because this meal will be pricey, but it was well worth the coins.
