Hey there fellow foodies. Last night I went to one of the many tequila pairing dinners Cantina Laredo has been hosting during the end of the 2015 year. The dinners include a four course meal which each dish highlighting a tequila drenched drink to wash it down with. (YAAAAAS)
The night started off next to the bar, where we sat down and immediately were greeted by some of the waiters there. They told us how the night would go and that we would be having course number one at the bar while they waited for all the guests to arrive. Dish one was a beef tamale with a corn and chorizo hash on top.
It was paired with a tequila drink called, “Casa Amor.”
After sip number one, we knew we were in for a good night. lol
The tamale was delicious. The hash for sure was the best part. Very flavorful and the queso fresco paired wonderfully with the corn hash.
The only critique for the tamale would be that I wish it was warmer. i ate every bit of it though. I am not going to lie…it was freaking delicious.
Next, we headed over to the dining area where they had multiple tables set up in preparation for the other half of dinner. It was beautiful. They combined the tables so that you could mingle with the other participating guests. We sat down and began to look over the menu they had set out in front of us.
The second course was “Sopa e Pozole con Pollo” that was paired with a Casamigos Margarita. The soup was delicious. As you know, we are obsessed with spicy foods, and this soup came with one heck of a karate kick!
The soup had bit of chicken and hominy swimming in a spicy broth bath.
They waiter gave everyone some radishes, cabbage and fresh limes that you could add to the dish as you pleased. I feel adding the fresh veggies added a much needed contrast in textures to the dish. It was yummy and perfect for the cooler fall days we are experiencing right now. 🙂
The margarita was just what I expected.
I mean…tequila….what more is there to say?
Next up was the main course! *Yaaaaaay!* Choices were between the Guajillo Tamarindo Pork Chop and the Sea Bass with Habanero Mango Salsa. Both were paired with the drink, “Danny Ocean.”
The Sea Bass was cooked perfectly. The fish for sure melted under my knife.
The whole bite of fish, mango salsa and rice was heavenly. that salsa added the perfect amount of sweetness and heat alongside the savory fish. The critique for the fish is that indefinitely needed a hit of fresh pepper and salt once it left the pan. At this point, I was so full and couldn’t eat too much from this course. I did have it boxed up ask I could enjoy it for dinner today! 🙂
My friend ordered the pork chop, and after tasting that, I definitely regretted not ordering it because it was sooooo amazing!!
The pork chop is a new item that they were thinking of adding to the menu. Dare I say this was the best pork chop I have ever had? I honestly can’t think of one pork chop that measures up to the one I tasted last night.
The pork chop was soooooo moist and juicy. Along with that sauce and potato, pepper and onion hash, it was perfect. Like…perfect.
The drink for this course was the “Danny Ocean.”
Nice and fruity and tasted like strawberries!
The dessert was a guava flan paired with an almond martini.
My tummy all of a sudden made room as I gobbled down the dessert.
The mix of that fruity flan along with the fresh fruit and caramel drizzle was too good.
The almond martini looked yummy. But considering I am allergic to nuts and didn’t want to go home to see Jesus, I slid the drink over to the guest on my right. lol
The dinner overall was delicious! I think for the amount you pay per-person, they really give you a bang for your buck with all the cocktails and dishes you get.
Oh I almost forgot the best part! They set up a tasting of three Casamigos tequilas that you could sip on at your leisure.
Don’t worry! Their are a couple diners left where you can go and get your tequila on too. 🙂 Peep the deets below for the remaining dinner:
