Hey Foodies! I’m sure if you have been following us, then you know how obsessed we are with “‘za” aka pizza! Blaze was next on our list of pizzerias we needed to try out.
We visited the Arlington location after participating in our bffs surprise engagement! *Congrats Jazzy and John* After all that excitement, our appetites were roaring!
Walking into Blaze, the smells immediately engulfed us. Maybe it was just because we were starving lol. Blaze is set up to where you can basically make your own pizza. Each pizza is made to order and cooked to perfection their brick oven! There are also restaurant staples to choose from if you can’t figure out what exactly to get.
We decided to do both. Create our own and try a staple.
On the create your own, we had pepperoni, crumbled meatballs. spinach, roasted garlic, garlic pesto sauce, mushrooms, ovalini mozzarella and parmesan. We decided to put this on their high rise crust.
This pizza was definitely our favorite. We were expecting the crust to be huge considering the “high rise crust,” but we weren’t disappointed. Despite the crust not being super huge, it was delicious light and airy. The garlic pesto drizzle was to die for. Who ever came up with that deserves a raise ASAP!
The staple we chose was the BBQ Chkn. The BBQ Chkn comes with grilled chicken, mozzarella, red onions, banana peppers, gorgonzola and topped with a bbq sauce drizzle. We chose the gluten free crust for this one.
The gluten free crust was delicious. It had a doughy feature to it but had a little bit of crunch around the edges. I think we can both agree that the gorgonzola was a bit overwhelming to the pizza and frankly it could have been excluded. The bbq drizzle was yummy. Definitely wish that it was incorporated more into the pizza.
Alongside our feast of carbs, we decided to grab a salad.
The Antipasto salad was filled with grilled chicken, applewood bacon, artichokes, roasted red pepper, red onion, shredded mozzarella, romaine and topped with an Italian vinaigrette. The salad was delicious and refreshing. Definitely took a load off all the carbs. lol
We were told that it was mandatory that we try the Smore’s Pie for dessert.
The s’mores pie was a nice finish to the meal. They warmed it up in their brick oven and served hot. We definitely wished they offered whole s’mores pizzas!
We also tried the blood orange lemonade.
In our opinion, it was waaay too sweet. Too sugary for enjoyment and not much blood orange flavor.
All in all, Blaze is great choice when you are craving pizza on the go. The build your own concept is definitely picking up in the food world and Blaze is right on track! Try them out and tell them the EATS Blog sent you. π
